Description:

Seeds (10 pieces per pack).

Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica). In its native China and Japan, it grows as a small tree among the wild. Its modest size and aesthetic appearance has won it popularity among bonsai connoisseurs. In spring, the tree is mesmerizing with dark red, pink and yellow flowers. The crown is formed by oval, shiny, dark green leaves with serrated edges. The yellow-green fruits ripen in late fall.

Propagation of Japanese quince by seeds is the easiest and most reliable method of propagation. If planted in the fall, seedlings will appear in the spring. For spring planting the seeds are stratified for 2-3 months in wet sand at +3-5 °C .
For germination, seeds need light and constant humidity. The container with seeds should be covered with polyethylene film and make holes for ventilation. After the sprouts appear, they are transplanted into pots with equal parts of peat and fine vermiculite or perlite.
