Redwood seeds

Seeds (10 pieces per pack).

Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides). An elegant-looking coniferous tree, reaching a height of 30-35 m. The trunk is up to 2 meters in diameter. Its pine needles look like sharp leaves and throughout the year they change color from green to pink to reddish-brown. A distinctive feature is that the tree sheds not only needles but also small branches in winter. Metasequoias can be grown as bonsai at home.

To grow Macewia from seeds you need to stratify the seeds (pre-soak for 1-2 days, then slightly dry them to prevent sticking) at +3-5 °C for one to two months (fridge, bottom shelf for vegetables). After that, the seeds are distributed in pots with a soil mixture consisting of coarse washed and calcined river sand mixed with perlite or top sour peat at a ratio of 2:1. Further, the growing process should take place in light and in a warm place at an air temperature of between +19-23 °C. A higher temperature will have a negative effect.
The emerging seedlings should be sheltered from direct sunlight, preferably kept in the shade. Metasequoia seedlings are unpretentious and develop rather quickly, however, the plants should get enough fresh air, moisture and light.
