Description:

Seeds (10 pieces per pack).

Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum). The tallest evergreen tree in the world, over 100 meters tall. It is native to a small strip of the Pacific coast of North America. They are most numerous in the national parks of Great Britain, Hawaii, Italy, New Zealand and Canada. The largest specimens are listed by name in the Guinness Book of World Records. The tree needs a humid maritime climate. Sequoias are long-livers, their age can reach several thousand years. A distinctive feature of the trees is their huge, bare and thick trunks, with branches starting only at the top. Because of its impressive size, it is not reasonable to grow Sequoias in the garden, so the only alternative is to create bonsai trees.

Cold stratification of sequoia seeds increases the percentage of germination. You do this by filling a container with a transparent cover with vermiculite up to half, putting the seeds in, watering them a little and then putting them in the fridge. Stratify the seeds in the refrigerator for 3 months at 4 ºC. Once a week you should take the container out to air it out.
In spring, sow the seeds in pots with vermiculite and peat nutrient medium, (you can use universal soil for conifers or substrate of 70% Acadama and 30% Kiryusuna), sprinkle thinly, water and cover with polyethylene. 1-3 times a day airing and irrigation from a sprayer. After the appearance of sprouts (in 2-3 months), remove the polyethylene and continue to monitor the humidity of the soil - the top layer should dry up a little. With overwatering, the sprouts die.
Repotting in the spring once every 2-3 years.
