Description:

Barberry Tiny Gold is an ornamental deciduous plant that combines bright coloring and compact growth, which is ideal for growing a spectacular bonsai.
The foliage is bright yellow with a slight lettuce tint, turning deep orange or red in the fall. The crown is oval-shaped, dense.
Flowering: small yellow flowers in May.
Fruit: non-edible small bright red berries in fall.
Placement: outdoor.
Lighting: sun or semi-shade. The best location is where the plant receives at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day for bright foliage and blooms. In shade, bright color is lost.
Soil: light, well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral.
Watering: moderate, without stagnant water.
Comfortable temperature: +18.... +20 ºC degrees in spring and summer.
Repotting: from late spring to mid-summer, as warm weather promotes the growth of the plant.
Fertilize barberry from April to September 2 times a month. For abundant flowering you should use fertilizers with increased nitrogen, e.g. Biogold Original (see here).
After the buds start to form, switch to a fertilizer with an increased phosphorus and potassium content, e.g. Biogold Glassis (see here). Fertilize once a month from mid-September and do not fertilize in winter.
Winterization: in a dark, cool room (cellar, cold pantry) at a temperature of 0 °... +12 °С. Tolerates frosts down to - 5 ° C.
Pruning: in early spring. Removal of blooming flowers will help the plant to retain its attractive shape. Cut out weak, poorly developed and growing inside the crown shoots.
Diseases and pests: barberry is resistant to diseases, but for prevention once a month you can treat the plant with a soap solution.
