Auseklis is a mythological image in Latvian folklore, one of the most frequently mentioned mythological inhabitants of the sky in folk songs. This is an octagonal pattern used in Latvian culture as decoration on gloves, socks, belts, boots, blankets. The sign protects and does not allow the presence dark forces, magicians and evil people. The sign is used in halls of honor, in children's rooms, hung on a horse, put in windows and decorated homes.
