The park was created during the reign of Count Carl Gustav von Sievers and was originally named after the Count's grandson, Alexis. It is said about Aleksha Park that its tall linden rows were planted by E. Veidenbaum's grandfather Kaspars Veidenbaums. In May Park you can see the impressive sculpture “Battle with the Centaur” by the famous Latvian sculptor Karlis Jansons, which has become one of the symbols of the city.
