Cesis sculpture by Matthias Janson “Walking Through the Ages” (popularly called “The Man of Time”) was opened in July 2005, it depicts a man with a lantern - the symbol of the city of Cesis. Legend has it that a man lived in Cesis a long time ago. When the townspeople went to bed, he walked along the streets of the city with reliable companions - a staff and a bright lantern. The townspeople knew that while this man was walking the streets of the city, everything was calm in the city. But one night he disappeared ... But if one day you meet at the crossroads a man with a stick and a lantern in his hand - do not forget to wipe the glass of the lamp, its light will always show a safe way not only to the old man, but to your good thoughts, dreams and deeds.
