Description:

The Riga's Powder Tower (Sand Tower until the 17th century) is the only one that has survived from the city's ancient defensive system. One of the main city roads ran along the tower, and it was so muddy and sandy that carts got stuck all the time. And at that time there was a rule according to which everyone who enters Riga must bring a stone to pave the road.
Tower diameter - 14.3 m; height - 25.5 m; the thickness of the wall is about 3 m. On the walls of the tower can see embedded cannonballs as a reminder of the Northern War.
