Barberry bonsai soil, Ref.2907
Description:
Soil for Barberry Bonsai
Barberry bonsai grow best in a well-drained, sandy soil mixture. Barberry species are hardy shrubs that generally do not like prolonged waterlogging—good drainage is necessary to prevent root rot and stimulate fine branching.
Classic soil mixture:
- 40% pumice provides excellent drainage and aeration;
- 40% lava (drainage and aeration);
- 20% akadama (moisture retention and stimulation of fine root development).
Organic components can be added (no more than 10%): crushed sphagnum moss, charcoal, humus, and garden soil.
pH 6.0-7.5.
It is recommended to place lava drainage at the base of the container.
Avoid mixtures with a high peat content; they retain too much water and decompose quickly.
Water generously, then allow the soil to dry out partially before watering again.
Standard packaging: 500 ml
When buying 2 or more packs, the price for each is 2.20 €
