Soil for Lilac bonsai

Lilacs require a light mineral substrate with a small (10–15%) addition of organic material. Lilacs prefer light, nutrient-rich soil.

Optimal soil:
- 40% akadama;
- 30% pumice;
- 20% lava;
- 10% organic material (black soil).

- Akadama retains moisture and nutrients;
- Pumice improves root aeration;
- Lava provides drainage and maintains the substrate’s structure;
- Black soil provides nutrients.

Particle size: approximately 2–5 mm.
Soil pH: 6–7
