Soil for Buddha's pine bonsai (Podocarpus) bonsai

Buddha's pine bonsai requires well-drained, slightly acidic, breathable soil.
Podocarpus prefers constant moisture and does not like excessive moisture.
Recommended classic soil mixture:
- 50% akadama – retains moisture and drains well;
- 25% lava – improves aeration;
- 25% pumice – retains nutrients and lightens the mixture.

The following can be added as organic components (no more than 10%):
- fine size pine bark;
- black soil.
Peat is undesirable as it retains moisture.
Use lava at the bottom of the pot for drainage.
pH 6-7
