Spruce bonsai soil

To grow spruce bonsai, use loose, well-aerated soil with good drainage. Garden soil and compost can only be used as additives (no more than 10–15%).
Slightly acidic, with a pH of 5.5–6.
Drainage at the bottom of the container is necessary - lava rock.
Main composition:
- 60% akadama, holds moisture and nutrients.
- 20% pumice,  provides aeration.
- 20% lava rock, improves drainage and structure.

A good alternative:
- 40% fine pine bark;
- 30% perlite or pumice;
- 20% coarse sand/gravel;
- 10%  acidic peat (sphagnum).
