Description:

Riga South Bridge across the Daugava was built from 2004 to 2008. The bridge is 800 m long with three traffic lanes in each direction, cycle paths and sidewalks on each side. Width 35 m, height above the road surface - 13 m, height above the river 8.5 m. The South Bridge is the newest, largest and most expensive bridge in Latvia. Provides traffic between the south-western part of Pardaugava and the regions of the right bank of Riga - the suburbs of Latgale and Vidzeme, the Northern region without crossing the city center, contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion. Looking at the daily flow of cars across the bridge, now it is even difficult to imagine how long the queues would have been if everything had been the same - Stahanov Bridge and the dangerous whirlpool of automobiles below.
