Soil moisture indicator

80% of plant wilting and death is caused by improper watering.
Advice such as “daily”, “once a week”, “when the soil surface of the pot is dry” are not absolute indications of when to water., “once a week”, “when the surface of the soil in the pot is dry” are not absolute indications of when to water.
The need for watering depends on many factors such as temperature, humidity, amount of sunlight, air movement, plant and container size.

The innovative product allows you to:
- have constant visual information about soil moisture;
- assess the degree of moisture for all types of plants and soils;
- avoid damaging the roots when measuring;
- avoid the risks of overwatering or drying out the soil.
The miniature dimensions of the device do not attract unnecessary attention.

The indicator consists of a plastic body and an inner core made of a special fiber (non-woven cotton), which allows changing color depending on the degree of humidity. The lower part of the indicator body is buried in the soil to the depth indicated by the symbols ▲▼. The upper part of the indicator has a transparent screen with changing color from white (dry) to blue (wet).
The openings above and below the screen must be open.
The device is kept in the controlled pot in the same place at all times.

It is recommended to watering when the indicator screen is completely white.
The indicator operates without batteries, ensuring the reliability and environmental friendliness of the product. The fiber of the indicator consists of organic material, which is gradually destroyed by microorganisms in the soil, as well as salts present in the irrigation water.
Therefore, the indicator (or core) should be replaced approximately every 6 - 12 months.

The average service life of the inner core depending on the composition of the soil is:
- organic: 6-9 months
- mineral: 9-12 months
- hydroponics: 1-2 years
- moss/bark: 1-2 years
- peat moss: 1 year.

You will notice the need for replacement by the lack of color change when watering.
Irrigation water with a high lime content is not only destructive for the plant, but also for the capillary structure of the fiber. Therefore, if the lifetime of the indicator is less than 6 months, this is an additional signal that water treatment measures should be taken.
